/ˈdɪfəkəɫt/ adj A1, A2**Difficult** means hard, demanding effort, or stubbornly uncooperative. Something **difficult** can also describe a person who refuses to budge. As a verb, to **difficult** something is to complicate it, to throw a wrench in the works. In short, anything **difficult** asks for extra brainpower, patience, or a good cup of tea.
