/ˈkjubɪt/ noun C1**Cubit** is an old unit of length based on the arm, from elbow to fingertips. Think of it as the size of a decent forearm. Modern use is mostly historical or architectural. In ancient texts, a cubit measured the span of a man’s own arm, so one could calculate a building’s scale by standing next to it.
