exalted

/ɪɡˈzɔɫtɪd/ adj

Praised, honored.

Word Origin From Latin ex- 'up from' and altus 'high' — literally 'raised up high'. The idea is lifting someone to a lofty position, whether in rank or praise. The root altus gives us altitude, altimeter, and alto (high voice). The PIE root *h₂el- 'to grow, nourish' also yields adult (grown up) and aliment (nourishment).
