thinkable

/ˈθɪŋkəbəl/ adj A2

can be imagined

Word Origin Thinkable combines the Old English þencan 'to think' with the Latin suffix -able 'capable of' — so it means 'able to be thought.' Interestingly, think and thank are cognates: both come from the same Proto-Germanic root meaning 'to think, consider,' because thanking someone involves thinking of them gratefully. The PIE root *teng- meant 'to think, feel.'
