sensitiveness

/ˈsɛnsətɪvnəs/ noun

The ability to be aware of (and, usually, react with regard to) the feelings of others.

Word Origin From Latin sentire 'to feel' — sensitive means quick to feel, and sensitiveness is the quality of being sensitive. The root sent- gives us a whole family of feeling words: consent (feel together), dissent (feel apart), resent (feel again, i.e., bitterness), and even sentence (originally a thought or opinion). The breakdown sens+itive+ness shows the root sens- (feel), -itive (tending to), -ness (state of).
