obstructive

/əbˈstɹəktɪv/ adj B2

causing obstruction

Word Origin Obstructive comes from Latin ob- 'in the way' and struere 'to build' — literally 'building in the way,' blocking progress. The root struere gives us construct (build together), destroy (un-build), and structure (something built). The -ive suffix makes it an adjective: something that tends to block. You can almost see a wall being piled up right in your path.
