enrobe

/əʊb/ verb

To coat or cover.

Word Origin From Frankish rouba 'clothes, spoils' (the same root as rob, because clothes were often stolen goods) and Latin in- 'into' — so enrobe means 'to put into clothes,' to dress. The word robe originally meant a garment, often a luxurious one, and enrobe is to clothe someone, especially in fine attire. The same root gives us rob (to steal), robber, and disrobe.
