voiding

/ˈvɔɪdɪŋ/ noun

An act by which something is voided, such as urination.

Word Origin Void comes from Latin vacuus 'empty' — the same root as vacuum. Voiding means making empty, or in medicine, excreting. The word avoid literally means 'to empty out, to leave empty' (a- 'away' + void), so avoiding something is leaving it empty of you. Devoid means 'completely empty of.' The root vacuus also gives us vacant and evacuate.
