Not representative

Word Origin From Latin re- 'again' + praesentare 'to present' (from prae- 'before' + esse 'to be') — to represent is to present again, to stand for something. Unrepresentative means not standing for the whole. The root esse 'to be' gives us essence (the being of something) and interest (literally 'to be among'). So unrepresentative fails to be a proper stand-in.
