Word Origin Train comes from Latin trahere 'to pull, draw' — originally a trailing part of a gown, then a line of vehicles pulled along, then the act of drawing someone along in learning. Undertrained means not pulled along enough. The root trahere gives us tractor (a puller), attract (pull towards), and contract (pull together).
