factional

/ˈfækʃənəɫ/ adj

Of, pertaining to, or composed of factions.

Word Origin Factional comes from Latin factio 'a doing, a company of people acting together' — from facere 'to do.' A faction is a group that does things together, often in politics. The -al suffix makes it an adjective: relating to factions. The same root facere gives us fact (something done), factory (place of doing), and affect (to do to). So factional describes the divisive 'doing' of competing groups.
