macrocosm

/ˈmæk.ɹəˌkɑz.əm/ noun C1

the universe

Word Origin From Greek 'makros' (large) and 'kosmos' (world, order) — literally the 'large world' or universe. It's the opposite of microcosm, the small world. The same 'kosmos' gives us cosmic, cosmology, and even cosmonaut (a sailor of the cosmos). So macrocosm is the big picture, the entire ordered universe.
