dazed

/ˈdeɪzd/ adj

In a state of shock or confusion.

Word Origin Dazed comes from Old Norse dasa 'to become weary or stunned' — so to be dazed is to be in a stunned, confused state. The same root gave us dazzle (to stun with light) and bedazzle (to dazzle thoroughly). The PIE root *dhes- 'to be stunned, bewildered' also appears in words like dizzy and doze. So dazed is that foggy, knocked-silly feeling.
