unmixable

/ʌnmˈɪksəbəl/ adj

Not mixable, not able to mix

Word Origin Unmixable means not able to be mixed. Mix comes from Latin miscere 'to mix', and -able means 'capable of'. The un- negates it. The same root gives us miscible (mixable), immiscible (not mixable), and promiscuous (mixing freely). The PIE root *meik- also gives us medley.
