plisse

/plˈɪs/ adj C1

having a puckered or pleated texture, like seersucker

Word Origin Plisse is a fabric with a crinkled, pleated texture, and it comes straight from the French past participle of 'plisser', to pleat, which goes back to Latin 'plicare' 'to fold'. That's the same root that gives us pleat, plait, and ply — all about folding. The PIE root *plek- also yields complicate (fold together), duplicate (fold twice), and explicit (folded open). So plisse is literally 'folded' fabric.
