describable

/dɪsˈkɹaɪbəbəɫ/ adj

Capable of being described.

Word Origin From Latin scribere 'to write'. Describe literally means 'write down' — to put into words. Describable means able to be described. The same root gives us scribe (a writer), script (something written), prescribe (write beforehand), and inscribe (write on). The PIE root *skribh- means 'to scratch, cut', so writing began as scratching marks.
