rigidify

/ɹɪdʒˈɪdᵻfˌaɪ/ verb

To make rigid, to cause to be or become rigid.

Word Origin Rigid comes from Latin rigere 'to be stiff' — unbending, inflexible. Rigidify adds -ify (from facere 'to make') — literally 'to make stiff.' The root rig- gives us rigidity (stiffness), rigescent (becoming stiff), and rigescence (the process of stiffening). So rigidify means to make something rigid, to take the flexibility out of it.
