maleficent

/məˈlɛf.ɪ.sənt/ adj

Harmful or evil in intent or effect.

Word Origin Maleficent literally means 'doing evil' — from Latin male 'badly' and facere 'to do'. It's the opposite of beneficent (doing good). The root facere gives us fact, factory, and efficient, while malus gives us malice, malign, and dismal (from Latin dies mali 'evil days'). So maleficent is an evildoer.
