concentrative

/kˈɑnsəntɹətˌɪv/ adj

Characterised by concentration.

Word Origin Concentrative comes from concentrate, which is con- 'together' + centrum 'center' — literally 'to bring to a center'. Centrum originally meant the stationary point of a compass, from Greek kentron 'sharp point, goad', from the PIE root *kent- 'to prick'. So concentrating is bringing things to a point. Related: eccentric (out of center), centrifugal (fleeing the center), and epicenter (upon the center).
