uncolored

/ʌŋkˈʌlɚd/ adj

Having no color; not treated with a dye or other color.

Word Origin Uncolored is simply 'not colored,' but the root color comes from Latin color, which originally meant 'a covering, hue' — from PIE *kel- 'to cover, conceal.' That's why color can 'cover' a surface. The same root gives us discolor (lose color), multicolored, and even colorless. The un- prefix reverses it, so uncolored means lacking that covering hue.
