resistive

/ɹᵻsˈɪstɪv/ adj

Tending to resist something or someone; resistant.

Word Origin Resist comes from Latin 're-' (back, against) and 'sistere' (to stand) — literally 'to stand against.' Resistive means having the quality of resisting. The root 'sistere' gives us assist (stand by), consist (stand together), insist (stand on), persist (stand through), and exist (stand out, be). So resistive is 'standing against-ish.'
