misarrangement

/mɪsɚɹˈeɪndʒmənt/ noun

Wrong or incorrect arrangement.

Word Origin Arrange comes from Old French 'arangier' 'to put in a line', from 'a-' (to) + 'rangier' 'to set in a row', from a Germanic root meaning ring or circle (hringaz). So to arrange is literally to put into a ring or circle, and misarrangement is a bad arrangement. The root hringaz gives us ring, rank (a row), and harangue (a speech to a circle of people). The mis- prefix means 'badly'.
