disfigurer

/dɪsfˈɪɡjɚɹɚ/ noun

One who disfigures.

Word Origin From Latin dis- 'apart' and fingere 'to shape' — literally 'to shape apart, to un-shape.' A disfigurer is someone who mars or deforms. The root fingere gives us figure, fiction (something shaped in the mind), figment, and effigy (a shaped likeness). The PIE root *dheigh- 'to form' is also in dough and paradise (from pairi-daēza 'a walled enclosure, shaped around'). So disfigurer is a 'de-shaper.'
