surrealistically

/sɝˈiɫɪstɪkli/ adv

In a surreal manner.

Word Origin Surreal comes from French surréalisme, coined by Apollinaire, from sur- 'beyond' (Latin super) and réalisme 'realism' (from Latin res 'thing'). So surreal means 'beyond the real.' Surrealistically is the adverb form. The same root res gives us real, reality, and realize. The prefix sur- also appears in surface, surpass, and survive. So surrealistically means in a way that goes beyond reality.
