reappoint

/ˌɹiəˈpɔɪnt/ verb

To appoint again.

Word Origin Appoint comes from ad- 'to' and punctum 'point' — literally 'to point to' someone for a position. Reappoint is to point to them again. The root punctum also gives us point, puncture (a small prick), and punctual (exactly on the point of time). The PIE root *peug- meant 'to prick,' so you can almost see the sharp point in all these words.
