civically

/ˈsɪvɪkəli/ adv

In a civic manner

Word Origin From Latin civis 'citizen' — the root of all things city-related. Civic means 'pertaining to citizens', and civically is doing something in a civic-minded way. The same root gives us civil (polite, as citizens should be), civilization (the state of being civilized), and citizen itself. The PIE root *kei- meant 'to lie down, settle, home', so a citizen is literally someone who has settled in a community.
