facially

/ˈfeɪʃəli/ adv

Using or involving the face.

Word Origin Facially comes from facial, which is from face, from Latin facies 'form, appearance'. So facially means 'in a facial way'. The root fac- also appears in surface (above the face), deface (remove the face), and efface (wipe out the face). It's also related to fact (something made) and factory (place where things are made), because facies is from facere 'to make' — your face is what you're 'made' to look like. That's a surprising connection: face and fact share the same root.
