corrodible

/kɚɹˈoʊdᵻbəl/ adj

Readily corroded

Word Origin Corrode comes from Latin com- (intensive) and rodere 'to gnaw' — so it's literally 'to gnaw away intensely.' That's why corrodible means 'able to be eaten away by rust or chemicals.' The same root rodere gives us rodent (a gnawing animal), erode (gnaw out), and even rostrum (originally a bird's beak for gnawing).
