reapply

/ˌɹiəpɫaɪ/ verb

To apply again.

Word Origin Apply comes from Latin ad- 'to' and plicare 'to fold' — literally 'to fold toward' something, like pressing something onto a surface. Reapply is just doing it again. The root plicare is incredibly productive: it gives us ply (a fold or layer), pliant (able to be folded), and complicate (fold together). The idea of folding is central to many words about joining and layering.
