To absorb again.

Word Origin Absorb comes from Latin ab- 'away' and sorbere 'to suck in' — literally 'suck away.' Add re- 'again' and you get reabsorb, to suck something back in that was previously absorbed. The same root sorbere gives us absorbent (something that sucks away) and absorption (the process of sucking in). The PIE root *srebh- meant 'to sip, swallow,' which you can almost hear in the word.
