untoasted

/ʌntˈoʊstᵻd/ adj

Not toasted

Word Origin The prefix 'un-' (not) plus 'toasted,' from Latin torrere 'to parch, roast.' Toast is bread that's been roasted. Untoasted means not browned. The same root gives us torrid (parched, hot) and torrent (a rushing stream, originally a boiling, seething flow). The PIE root *ters- 'dry' also gives us 'thirst' and 'terrain'.
