Subject to a moderate degree of secrecy; partially but not entirely secret

Word Origin Secret comes from Latin secernere 'to separate, set apart' — something secret is set apart from public knowledge. Semi- 'half' makes it semisecret: partly hidden. The root secernere also gives us discern, discrete, and secretion. Semi- appears in semicircle, semiconscious, semiannual. The idea: not fully secret, but not fully open either.
