quintessentially

/ˌkwɪntəˈsɛnʃəɫi/ adv

In a manner that is typical or characteristic of a thing's nature.

Word Origin Quintessence comes from Latin quinta essentia 'fifth essence' — in ancient and medieval philosophy, the fifth element after earth, air, fire, and water, believed to be the substance of heavenly bodies. So quintessential means 'of the purest essence,' the most perfect example. Quintessentially is the adverb. The root quintus gives us quintet (group of five), quintuple (fivefold), and quintuplet (one of five). The esse 'to be' gives us essence and essential.
