tiled

/ˈtaɪɫd/ adj

Constructed from, or decorated with tiles.

Word Origin From Latin 'tegula' (tile), which itself comes from 'tegere' (to cover). So a tile is literally a covering piece. The same root tegere gives us protect (cover in front), detect (uncover), and toga (a covering garment). Tiled simply means covered with tiles — you can almost see the roof being layered.
