unbranded

/ənˈbɹændɪd/ adj

not associated with a brand name

Word Origin Brand originally meant a burning piece of wood or a torch — and from that, the mark made by a hot iron to identify ownership. So unbranded means not marked, not carrying a brand. The un- prefix negates it. The same root gives us firebrand (a piece of burning wood, or a troublemaker) and rebrand (to mark again).
