courageously

/kɝˈeɪdʒəsɫi/ adv

In a courageous manner; bravely; boldly.

Word Origin From Latin cor 'heart' — courage is literally 'heart-ness,' the quality of having heart. That's why we say someone has a lot of heart when they're brave. The same root gives us cordial (warm-hearted), accord (hearts together, agreement), discord (hearts apart, conflict), and record (re+cor, literally 'back to the heart,' originally meaning to get by heart, to remember). Courageously, then, is acting with heart.
