engineless

/ˈɛndʒənləs/ adj

Without an engine.

Word Origin From Latin ingenium 'innate quality, talent, device' — so engine originally meant a clever invention. Engineless simply means lacking an engine. The same root gives us engineer (one who designs engines) and engineering. The PIE root *ǵenh₁- 'to produce, beget' also underlies genius, generate, and kin.
