bronchoscope

/ˈbɹɑnkəˈskoʊp/ noun

A form of endoscope for inspecting the bronchial tubes.

Word Origin From Greek bronkhos 'windpipe' and skopein 'to look' — literally a device for looking into the windpipe. The -scope part is the same as in telescope (far-seeing) and microscope (small-seeing). The root skopein (PIE *spek-) also gives us spectator and inspect, so a bronchoscope is a tool for inspecting the bronchi.
