worriedly

/ˈwɝidli/ adv

In a worried manner.

Word Origin From Old English wyrgan 'to strangle, harass' — so worry originally meant to choke or torment. The idea: when you worry, you feel like you're being strangled by anxiety. Worriedly describes doing something in that anxious state. The same root gives us worrier, worrisome, and worrywart. The PIE root *werg- 'to strangle' also underlies wring and wrangle.
