clientless

/ˈkɫaɪəntləs/ adj

Without a client; lacking clients.

Word Origin Clientless simply means without clients. Client comes from Latin cliens 'follower, dependent', from the PIE root *klei- meaning to lean—so a client is someone who leans on you for support. The suffix -less from Proto-Germanic *lausaz 'lacking' gives the absence. The same root *klei- gives us incline, recline, and climate (the slope of the earth).
