amazedly

/əˈmeɪzdli/ adv

In an amazed manner.

Word Origin Amaze originally meant 'to confuse, delude' from Old English mæsan, with the a- prefix as an intensifier. So to be amazed was to be utterly bewildered, but over time the sense shifted from confusion to overwhelming wonder. Amazedly is the adverb form: doing something in a state of astonishment. It's a great example of how a word for mental fog became a word for awe.
