DMCA Copyright Takedown Policy

Syntaxiom Education respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users of our Service to do the same. In accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and other applicable copyright laws, we provide the following process for reporting copyright infringement on the Syntaxiom platform.

Designated DMCA Agent

All copyright infringement claims should be sent to our designated DMCA agent:

• Subject line: "DMCA Takedown Request"

Filing a Takedown Notice

To file a copyright infringement notice, you must provide a written communication that includes the following information (as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)):

1. Identification of the copyrighted work — a description of the copyrighted work that you claim has been infringed, or if multiple works, a representative list.
2. Identification of the infringing material — the specific location on the Syntaxiom Service where the infringing material is located (e.g., user account, document title, URL, or other identifying information). Note: Syntaxiom users may upload documents for personal educational use. Infringement claims should identify specific content that has been improperly uploaded or distributed.
3. Your contact information — your full name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
4. Good faith statement — a statement that you have a good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. Accuracy statement — a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the copyright owner's behalf.
6. Physical or electronic signature — the signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.

Response Process

Upon receipt of a valid DMCA notice, Syntaxiom will:

• Promptly investigate the claimed infringement
• Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material
• Notify the user who uploaded the content that a takedown notice was received
• Provide the user with an opportunity to file a counter-notice if they believe the takedown was made in error

Counter-Notice

If you believe that your content was removed in error or that you have the right to use the content (e.g., you own the copyright, have permission, or your use qualifies as fair use), you may file a counter-notice that includes:

1. Identification of the removed content and its location before removal
2. Your contact information (name, address, phone, email)
3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed or disabled due to mistake or misidentification
4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the Federal District Court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or if your address is outside the US, the Northern District of California)
5. Your physical or electronic signature

Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, Syntaxiom will provide the original complainant with a copy of the counter-notice and may restore the removed content within 10-14 business days, unless the complainant files a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement.

Repeat Infringer Policy

Users who repeatedly upload infringing content in violation of our End User License Agreement will have their accounts terminated. We maintain a record of DMCA takedown notices and track repeat infringers.

Important Notes

• Personal use exception: Syntaxiom's document transformation pipeline is designed for users to process content they have the legal right to use for personal study. We do not host or distribute user-uploaded content to other users (except within linked family accounts). DMCA notices should be limited to cases where content has been improperly shared or distributed.
• Bad faith notices: Filing a false DMCA notice may result in liability for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Do not file a takedown notice unless you are genuinely the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.
• Non-DMCA claims: For copyright concerns from jurisdictions outside the United States, please include the relevant legal basis for your claim in your notice. We will review and respond in accordance with applicable law.

China-Specific Notes (中国用户)
