anticensorship

/ˌæntɪsˈɛnsɚʃˌɪp/ adj

Acting against or opposed to censorship.

Word Origin Censor comes from Latin censere 'to assess, judge' — Roman censors counted citizens and regulated morals. Censorship is the act of suppressing judged material, and anticensorship is literally 'against that suppression.' The same root gives us census (counting people) and censure (harsh judgment). The anti- prefix is Greek for 'against.'
